I've been resisting blogging for a very long time and I'm not really sure why. Maybe I'm just scared of the thought of people reading this and secretly judging me. Maybe I think it's a bit presumptuous to think people even want to read about what it is happening in my classroom.
And yet... I LOVE reading the blogs of other teachers. I get excited about the amazing stuff they are doing and inspired by the learning that goes on there. So, here I am.
Blogging is going to be my way of reflecting on what I am doing in my classroom. I welcome any and all feedback. I recently jumped headlong into twitter this summer and was amazed by all the professional development to be had there. I've "met" some very inspirational teachers there who have helped me to look more closely at my own practice. Not only at WHAT I am doing, but WHY I am doing it. Blogging will be another tool for me.
I would be remiss if I didn't start my first blog by thanking the one person who really inspired me. My very dear friend Angela. She has been an amazing teacher and our phone conversations always seem to come back to what we are doing in our classrooms and you can always hear the excitement in her voice when she talks about her kids and their latest activities. She is the teacher I want to be. She is the one who convinced me I HAD to try twitter and through reading her blog I've decided to dip my toe a bit further into the tech world. Thank you Angela. You probably have no idea of the sheer impact you have had upon me and many others. You are a gem beyond value!
So...you have to start somewhere. There. I've done it. I've started a blog. My plan is to reflect upon what I've tried (both good and bad). Please feel free to offer suggestions, feedback and ideas.
